Scooter Trash Grrrrrrrrrrr... f&%^&^%**ing... Grrrrrrrrrr... Finally got scooter back and road worthy, it rides real good and I get a letter from the DVLA saying it cannot be taxed as the frame number on the Mot and V5 don't match. Have to fill out a long form giving the reg number on the front ( ) and rear (as if they would be different anyway???) plates, Frame number on the V5, on the bike and on the MoT, ownern name, address, phone number, favorite drink... Then send it of and and now WAIT! Turns out the V5 is wrong...... can, worms.... open!

Is now nearly back together. It starts, runs and has new coolant. Just need to put the bodywork back on and service the engine. No piccies as it's too dark.
Have had to repair the mainstand as one to the bushes was non existant and the tred was bent. That now works.
PS: Dungbug, have you seen the Bantam advertised on Retro Rides??? Looks like what your after.

Both Honda and BMW do 650cc Scooters. The Honda has been about a while.

Scooter Trash update. Following the mot it was time to look at the advisory for the rear suspension..... It appears that the compensator arm needs new polybushes.... this links the engine to the frame... So on with the inevitable removal of panels.... Now scooters have a fun design, whereby the mainstand is attached to the engine..... so a ratchet strap, scissor jack and two axle stands later we have... Trussed scooter!! The axle stands stop is wobbling, the strap holds the frame up and the scissor jack takes the engines weight. Un plumb this lot..

I'd not discount the others. The Bantam is good, but the 4-strokes (LE excluded) are more flexable.
It failed. Worn out brake pads, and knackered dampers. Nice (cold) weekend fixing the scooter for me then.

Go for it DB! I'd recommend a D14 bantam (175cc and 4 speed) of the ones you listed. Other options are:
Areial Leader or Arrow - 250 2 stroke BSA C15 - 250 4 stroke AJS/Matchless M14/G2 - 250 4 stroke Velocette LE MkII/III - 200 4 stroke twin - MkII is hand change and hand start
The good thing with bantams are the spares are cheap and plentyful. The others listed can be found for sensible money if you can find a scruffy one. Look in Old Bike mart, the prices are a lot cheeper than e-bay.
In other news....
The scooter was fired up for it's MOT.... hasn't been touched for 6 months..... needed the battery charging and the tyres pumping up.... then off it went. No hesitation or play ups.... good scooter.
Let's see how bad it is under the testers light......
More soon.

Another update!!!! GS Trash. It's died! The starter motor spins but not the engine.... hmmmm.... Unfortunatly it dies at the GF's, so I had to cart all my tools there to work on it.... grrrrr.... Anyhow, a quick stripdown revealed the cause.... the alternator had come loose!!! It's scored the end of the crankshaft and the bore of the alternator. Will have to dress this.... The bolts which take the load ar not looking healthy so these will be replaced with high tensile. Matchless Trash. I have been working on this. Have been painting as much as possible in between the cold and stripping the paint off of the frame. Chain guard Headlamp bowl Frame Subframe

It's gorgeous and a custom.
No pics of the rear end as I had to lay on the floor to see the arrangement. Basically it was a swing arm arrangement from the original bike using the original shaft drive arrangement.
I want the kwak but it'll never reach production like that.
