oh man i gotta stop buying bikes... just went and bought a tatty but roadworthy Yamaha SR 125... 11 months mot, 12 month tax £200.... but 38,000 miles and tired but i did drive her near 50 miles home... now that gives me the Yamaha SR 125, a RXS 100, a Honda C90 and my 1967 Triumph T10... the C90 and the SR are roaded and running... the RXS is running but a project..(anyone got uncracked side panels for it lol) and the Triumph is a long term project.
Really though i need to lighten up on the bikes, or at least get these ones done before i get any more... its worse than crack (both kinds) for addictiveness.

yeah but there only small, they hardly take up any space, and there cute... you can't put them down! other people will only rag them into the ground and not appreciate how many years of dedicated service a faithful little bike can do.

Don't know how you find the time for all those bikes - I struggle to commit the hours needed for one!. In an ideal world I'd like two bikes, one complete that I can ride and another which I'd be restoring - then when the resto is complete I'd ride that and sell the other to fund the next project and start all over again.... Sadly, I don't live in an ideal word..

alright after searching for a good second hand speedo, ive decided that this SR needs to be bobbered, so im looking for a small chrome 80-100mph universal or easy to get speedo from another bike that will allow me to use the standard cable and drive... and a good bates style headlight... any suggestions lads as yamaha want £169 quid or something mental like that for a replacement speedo. im also thinking universal cut to legth style rear mudguard, a abbreviated front mudguard, a solo bobber style seat and remove weight. nowt expensive though as i want it to still just be a cheap hack. any input or suggestions would be great.

Well i just gone n done it... again, well didn't buy this time so much as "acquire" a acquaintance of mines i knew had this Kwaker GPz550 1981 in the bottom of her garden, she parked it up there 198 months or so ago when it needed a new set of header pipes, been on sorn since and she needed a couple parts for her apple mac which i happened to have laying around anyways... so we cut a deal, i now own a hedge fresh tired red 81 kawa.. what to do with it is the question, it needs a seat, and it needs the brakes doing, and header pipes and a general damn good fettling. look at her mouldy goodness...

Money is no real problem, the seat is fooked so you might as well sort an ELR seat,( reshaped foam and a cheap recover) the tyres brakes and the chrome on the suspension is all probably long past best and would cost more to fix then to buy a new bikes complete front end from the breakers, heck it would cost less to buy a bike with all the running gear you want and a blown engine, oh look you've bought yet another bike! this happens on a never ending cycle for me.. Tip: make sure the spare bikes engine is very very dead or you might find your self fixing it...

I used to have that opinions with VW bugs, would always buy them to use parts from but end up keeping them.....This was when a 'breaker bug' could be had for under 100 sheets.

true terra, i know the motor of that one is a good engine, as i had it running last yr when i first became aware of the bike. finding one will be a problem since its the 1981-82 D1 model with twin shock, not the more usual uni-track ones. and as far as im told there isnt to much interchangeable even though they look the same stylistically... and since she is first of the breed she might be worth doing as original as possible... or its cafe racer time lol!
