Is indeed a DT125lc, mk2 i believe. I also therefore think rd bits will fit, maybe some early tzr too. Current plan is as many YZ parts as possible, white plastics/tank, black seat, USD forks, YZ swingarm, blasted and clear powdered frame and white TZR 3 spokes. Anyone know about the exhaust on these things? Looks origional and uncut. Doesnt seem to quite meat the engine though and has no mounting flange. I thought it may have been cut off but doesnt look like it. There is also a hook near the engine end of the exhaust, is this for a spring mount? Like on early YZ? If so, im also missing the part that bolts to the engine, as well as the silencer

Maybe.
Been scouring ebay pics for details, looks like these engines may have had a spring system.
The haynes book of lies will tell me, but dont want to spend anything on it untill i know i can keep it.

Hmmm, first 2 are LC. Cant tell in the first, second does look bolted doesnt it.
Other 2 are R's.
However, i saw a pic on ebay of a new exhaust to fit my bike and it doesnt have a clamp.
I think earlier, and later exhausts have a built in clamp.

A pic stolen from ebay. Wrong year as mine has a 5 bolt head, but this has the extension on the exhaust side. I believe this is a seperate piece bolted on. You can see it on the right.

This is on ebay, has the same pic for a DTR too though. My zorst is like this (but the bend is squarer) but has the same type of hook and no flange.

Mine also bends the other way as LC mounts on the left hand side, R's mount on the right hand side.

Getting properly frustrated not being able to do much on this. Dont want to waste money yet.
Thought i'd take the top end off, see what the bottom end is like.
Lots of cornflake box gasjets LOL. Inside its bone dry! Not even a trace of oil. Small end felt tight, no play, but notchy. Took piston of and its all bone dry too. Cant find a trace of oil. +1.5 piston, but its run on it. Rings and card gaskets dont look new so i think its run like this, so why bone dry?
Odd.
Seems ok, but bottom end feels wierd. No up n down play, a small amount of side play but i doubt its out of spec. The rod will 'tip' side to side a little though, the small end of the rod will move side to side about 1.5mm while the big end only moves sideways a tiny bit.
No idea what is supposed to be like yet though, not without the manual.
Wasnt expecting roller bearings though.

roller bearing are the bane of the two-stroke, with out they can't survive (every and i mean every two-stroke has em) and with them they self destruct over about 13,000rpm. it could be that is was put together and never run? hence dry? reassemble with loads of oil side play is fine with big and small end, at least with what you have described, if you your not sure take it too an old school mechanic and let him have a feel, everything bar the big end is easily replaced at home with minimal tools.

I echo TerraRoots suggestion that you look for another dead model of this bike. I admire you for buying this, I know I wouldn't have done.

Nice dtlc you have there. These seem to be becoming more desirable at the mo. Mate had one on a B plate with a dtr lump fitted, by no means a straight swap though...
