Been wanting to get some work done on the Zepth', but as it's housed in my detached unheated garage the motivation to make a start is somewhat lacking.

pah! go out and get really cold then put on loads of layers to warm up and do some work, i get freezing driving to the garage then i get warm cursing stubborn bolts and heaving on tyre irons changing tyres. you can use the cold as an excuse to have a greasy chipper afterwards

Had to come out of my nice warm office and get back on the tools this last few weeks to help out due to this weather, working outside all day trying to restore frozen services in -10 temps has made me even less inclinded to start on the bike when I get home...... Reminds me of my apprentice days when I to travel to work year round on my bikes (couldn't afford a car), stopping every few miles to put my hands round the cylinder head and gloves on the exhaust in a vain effort to thaw out - happy days!.....I think!. ;D

Must have been coming back in about -5 degrees one night, couldnt feel my fingers! Pulling the clutch makes it worse. Stoped half way and stuck my fingers in the fins of my engine! Glad its going, but I just know it will probably come back, its only early december! Could snow in march again

i've often wondered if i could combine a set of handguards with some ducting to take warm air out from behind the engine and dump it over my hands, then summer comes around again and i can't be bothered these bar muffs are great but i reckon people be nickin em.

All that winter rididing never did me any harm!... ;D Sadly Derek , I doubt many your age would do the same - most expect mum my and daddy to run them around 'til their 17th - then demand their parents buy and run a car for them..... IMHO Everyone should spend at least 12 months on a bike by law before being let loose in a car, this would help them understand the 'road' and adapting your riding/driving to the conditions which jumping straight into 2 tons of enclosed steel box at 17 can never do.

Had to buy my own bike and insurance, the most expensive things. I just simply couldnt do 26 miles on 3 different busses to get to collage. I would have to leave at 7 in the morn, and get back near enough 6. Ive learent so much during the last 4 months of biking than any amount of lessons in a car. So many people dont know you are there. You have to be alot more aware of things around you. Ive learent the highway code on a bike, I know how to drive a car, now its just a case of putting them together. Alot easyer than learning it all at once.
