Well I'll start with a car as it's been in background shots of my cars for so many years it's become a standing ABS/RR/PH joke and it takes up a whole car space that I really need for another Monza (don't ask) so it has to go and I am so crap at selling cars!!!! Background to the car Purchased in 2006 for £100 (with a few faults that meant for one thing I was to be put off V6 engines for ever) it was also accident damaged and not completely repaired. It was a shed when I got it Since owning this car it's travelled 18 miles (all of them to and from MOT tests) the last mile was last week when it got another 12 mnths MOT on it I offered it up on RR as a swap for a motorcycle and with a little negotiation and some compromises I ended up with a swap deal So...... Friday last week at lunchtime my cat lost one of his favorite places to sunbathe The trailer got loaded And off I went 68 miles later - FTO off and something with less wheels loaded on I think I used enough straps I have a space on my driveway (the bike doesn't take up much room)........ Plans It needs some work - not too much ;D Fork seals and a chain (might bosh a new set of sprockets on too although the current ones don't seem worn at all) Recorded miles is 23K and it seems to tie up with the condition The Motad system is stupidly quiet - I don't like silly loud exhausts but motad seem to be whisper quiet compared to other road legal aftermarket systems so I've bought a cheap second hand race can off ebay and I'll cut and shut both cans untill I've got something that makes a little noise but doesn't cost a fortune The pink bolts that are everywhere are nasty so they've gotta go as have the additional stikers and a nasty tank scratch pad After that I'll see where I go

Nice one BC and good to see you over here.
I had a GPX600R as my first big road bike and it was great. The pZ looks better in that 80's sports bike kind of way IMHO.
Sliding pin callipers, keep them MOFO's greased!

Starting to get on with it now Running on 2/3/4 cyls at random meant it had a rough idle and chuffed a lot - new plugs fixed that - £10 Probably been like that for a while as when I changed the oil it stunk of fuel - £8 I'll run it up to temp and then change both oil (again) as well as the oil filter (3 ordered) Motad exhaust is now a jigsaw puzzle as I convert it to accept the insides of a viper race can but retain the BS stamps externally ;D Viper can was £19 bargain on Ebay In an unexpected bonus I saved myself £40 as next thing to putchase service item wise is a K&N internal airbox filter and the bike already has one that looks almost new

It's amazing what a service can do, good score on the exhaust by the sound of it.

It's amazing what a service can do, good score on the exhaust by the sound of it. Well the exhaust has been a right battle - figured all of the silencing and restriction was in the end can but how wrong I was - the link pipe has a tiny diameter tube inside effectively double skining it - I've already made a one piece unit three sections so a combination of die grinder and flexible drive as well as good old brute force and big hammers Now it's sorted - next job cut all the bits to size and put it back together - I was tempted to shorten the can length but I'll leave it for now

Well chain replaced and now I'm replacing the fork seals - bit of a nightmare job if I am honest
Add freeing the sliding front calipers to the list of jobs.......

My mate spent a while fannying around with the calipers on his. Well I'll be putting the forks back in tonight and then it'll be calipers and anti dive units overhaul ;D I did manage to rig up a temporary silencer at the weekend so I could get the engine up to temp and change the oil again (this time with a filter replacement) doesn't stink of fuel anymore. Did notice a large variation in exhaust temps when I was running it up - 20-30 deg difference between 1&2 and 3&4 at a fast idle so I'm thinking carbs need a stripdown and rebuild as that's way more than I'd expect (I have a infa red non contact temp measuring device that I use for track tyres to make sure I've got good camber set up and I checked the temps with that) Also found a lot of plastic from the belly pan vents on one of the downpipes - did a web search and found it's very common with motad nexus exhausts on GPZ600's so I've removed them completely - they weren't happy with the heat anyway and on one side they'd been roughly chiseled out for clearance. I'll add some ally sheet "heat shields" to protect the plastic pan from the exhaust heat and it'll look much neater and better. Not looking good to get it all done for the BMF rally but I'll keep plodding on with it. Need to order an indicator and a mirror off evilbay as both were broken when I got the bike (well the mirror was for sure but the indicator was held on with double sided tape so I didn't spot that)

sweet use of a tyre thermometer, beats crispy fingers any day. When it wasn't running on all cyls I use the crispy finger technique but it hurt on the hot downpipes so I dug the thermometer out Brake sliders weren't....... now they are Need to order some parts All the gaiters look like they've been cleaned in petrol sometime in the past not nice tight fit as they should be. Anti dive actuators checked and performing as they should but the fork oil side of the units need an over haul - o rings past their best and plungers are marked where a long distant PO has had them apart - bit of wet and dry should sort that but makes sense to change the seals Any good resources for on-line ordering of kawasaki parts?? My local dealer lost his Kawasaki franchise years ago (quite rightly too he was useless)

Just messaged my mate & asked where he brought the parts for his GPZ, I know he rebuilt the forks on his.........I'll post up his reply asap. I've used these guys for parts & found them to be pretty sound, quick delivery & descent prices; www.wemoto.com/bikes/kawasaki/gpz_600_r_a1-a5/85-89/
