Had a few issues with the GN (again) She's been a bit lumpy this week, I was suspecting the carb needed some adjustment after replacing the diaphragm. I pulled up at the roundabout near work and the revs dropped out and she duly cut out (always on a roundabout in rush hour). I faffed about with the HT lead and she fired up and rode on, sort of (I couldn't get her started the other week when it peed down, after faffing with the HT lead it fired up so that's why I did it again this morning). Thought no more of it & left work tonight, got on the dual carriageway and after half a mile she started to misfire ALOT. The rev's dropped out again and she died so I pulled over & faffed with the HT lead again which was fun with people whizzing past around 60mph+ She fired up again & I managed another half mile before it happened again. This happened another two times so I pulled off 1 junction before the one I needed so I was out of everyones way, she cut out again on the slip road. Conveniently under a descent street light so I could at least see what the feck I was doing, I pulled the spark plug cap off & it literally fell apart. I also noticed the plug itself was rattling around in its hole. I couldn't tighten the plug so I pushed what was left of the cap back on I somehow got it spluttering running again, she then died as I pulled on to a roundabout & again going across a dual carriageway in to my estate.........It occurred (again) how f**king selfish car drivers can be, when she cut out pulling across the dual carriageway some prat in a BMW slowed down (eventually) & sat there revving his engine a swearing out of his window.......It took control not lay one on him, I don't make a habit of pushing my bike across a busy road. 50 minutes to travel 7 miles, I know GN's aren't renown for their speed but........ ;D I'm hoping I can find somewhere local that sells the plug cap I need, will probably treat her to a new plug as well. Just thought I'd share the above, I reckon she's thrown a hissy because I was running insurance quotes on CBR125's last night. ;D ;D ;D

sorry to say this perhaps its time to part ways If I had the cash to I would, I'm working on that though. I'm just hoping that a new cap, plug & HT lead fixes the problem and it isn't something more.

the coil it's self can go too, my old rxs coil was perfectly situated to catch all the water in a 2 mile radius. the emergency can of wd40 in my back pack kept me going many times and some insulating tape provided a slightly better bodge fix.

Cheers, I'm expecting the coil pack to be fubar......Don't ask why, but nothing seems to be easily fixed with this. ;D

Cbr125? Noooooooooo don't do it! For why? My budget wouldn't stretch to an R125 or a descent RS that hadn't been hammered into the ground, quite like the CBR's.

how about a nice hyosung rx125? basically a gn125 with a four valve head, well engineered.

The cbr125s aren't great. That's my opinion though. i had one to sell on for a while, I think they look wrong, the engine is proper gutless, the wheels look like pram wheels and in general it feels too small, it felt awkward to ride.

Ah right, I'd read some good reviews & there's a local lad who usually buzzes past me on the way to work each morning who's got one. Ordered a new plug, cap and a lenght of HT lead this morning from Wemoto. I'm hoping that these parts fix the problem and the coil pack isn't fugged.

Hope it fixes it. A retro bike is so much better than a Cbr125, I promise. Have a go on one you will see what I mean, and you will notice an aching back lol

The CBR's seem to be cheaper, which is better I'll see how it goes (if the parts arrive tomorrow), she's starting to try my patience now though.

The Yamaha 125s look much better. never ridden one but the definitely look bigger. You really should keep with an older bike if you get a Cbr125 you come on here anymore haha

Haha, I'd hardly call the GN a retro......Maybe in the sense that it's done some leg and keeps breaking. ;D I do prefer older bikes for sure but I kinda want reliability, especially with old 125's, you never know how many kids have thrashed its balls before you buy it.

I mean the gn is more retro looking. So much more character than bike covered over with plastics!
