Firstly apologies for the 'non retro' content. ;D
As some of you are aware my knowledge of bikes is pretty vague so I've been looking out for something cheap to 'fettle' with to give me more idea of how bikes are built.......I didn't fancy playing about with the GN as I need to use it most days.
After alot of fruitless searching or finding a "project" where the seller wanted £££'s for it as he could 'get more on eBay for it'
On Wednesday evening with the help of Dave-v-v (RR member) we set off from MK to Stevenage in a Peugeot 307 estate to collect a Shineray 125.
After loading the bike (& removing the front wheel so the tailgate would close) we headed back to MK.
The bike in question is an 09 plate, the seller said it was a runner & I managed to get a bit of a fire from it when we picked it up. I wasn't going to argue too much as he wanted the princely sum of £50 for it.
Here's a few photo's;
Worked closed early this afternoon so I had some daylight to play with the bike, the reason why it wasn't firing became apparent. The fuel tap was switched off, switched it on, gave it a bit of chole & it started with the second kick. ;D Goes into gear, clutch seems to be happy enough as well. It was low on oil so I didn't run it for long, but found a few things that aren't right. Firstly the exhaust is fubar, snapped in the middle. One exhaust bolt has been sheered so the exhaust can't be bolted down (not sure how to get around that one). Indicators and brake light don't work, speedo cable missing & the frame for the tailpiece is broken.
Will hopefully get some more time on it this weekend, as said it was brought just for me to fettle with and get some understanding with bikes. Again apologies for the non retro content. ;D ;D ;D
