As per title, I'm thinking of changing the carb on the GN. I know I can fit a slide carb to replace the diaphragm type that I've got fitted, which might be a good idea after learning the diaphragm types do suffer a bit. I've found several places that sell pattern part carbs for reasonable money but I'm unsure how good they are. When I was into aircooled VW's I did use a pattern carb once and had nothing but problems with it, I also know a few people that brought new pattern carbs for their VW's and had nothing but problems with them. Has anyone had any experience/know anyone that has brought a pattern part carb? Ideally I would strip mine down and give it a clean to see if it solves the problems I'm having but I need to bike everyday & it's sods law something will break or not work once Iput it back together. Buying and fitting a new one would be more straight forward and would in theory keep me mobile. Opinions please, thanks.

Had a quick look to see..... on fleabay £40 ish for brand spankers carb.....but as the GN was chinese built anyway(no offence meant) dont think you'll have probs with fitting pattern parts.
Few Youtube vids with cleaning Gn carbs...have a look to see if its something you'd contemplate doing. Would be cheaper for rebuild kit and give you some experience.
