As an ex chair pilot, I was wondering who else has or had a 'chair' These are my old ones- 1991 Dnepr 650 with Moscow-made Sputnik chair. Bought for £300 in a semi-restored state. Cost £500 all-in as I still had lots of spares left from my last one. The chair body was in a bad way and took some prep and paintwork. The interior was trimmed out with charcoal office carpet and new seals fitted from Woolies. My previous one was a 1987 Dnepr 650 that was missing an engine, box, loom, seat and fuel tank. Cost? £150 with no V5. Bit of a tall order but, as two mates had Dneprs and spares, I got a box, tank and other bits and peices. As for the motor? I got a 1979 BMW R65 for £150 and used the motor from that. Not an ideal choice as the BMW 650 wasn't as torquey as the Dnepr and struggled with hills. The R80 is a good motor for this outfit as it has a nice balance of power and torque. The R100 had a bit of a rep for cleverly finding any weaknesses in the final drive or gearbox. All in, this one cost about £700 due to me going down a couple of blind alleys regarding mods. One in particular was the auxiliary fuel tank under the chair. So, get yer tricycles out folks

As far as I am aware, it used to be that you could ride any capacity bike on L plates if it had a chair. Today? I'm not sure but I believe you cannot carry a passenger on the bike or in the chair if you have L plates. Everyone should drive (not ride) an outfit at least once in their lives ;D
W-R-Will, I used to get stick from other members of our former bike club about things like arriving much later to rallies than them but the outfit became everyone's pal when it was time for the beer or takeaway runs. One example was me and my Dnepr driving pal being subjected to an hour of pisstaking before leaving for a rally in the pissing rain. On the Saturday morning, it was a pleasure to watch the other members crawling out of a damp sleeping bag and a pokey wee tent into the mud, sitting on a tiny stool and trying to heat up a tin of HP Big Breakfast. Meanwhile, me and my two pals had emerged from our comfy camp beds, fired up the two-burner stove, had a full english fry-up with large Lattes while listening to RunRig on the ghettoblaster. All under cover of our 3 bedroom, 6 man tent ;D Saturday night was better as we were pitched away at the top of the site. We fired up the wee genny, switched on the chain of 60w lamps and got the sounds going! Folk still refer to that tent as the Citadel because they were strangely drawn to the bright lights as they entered the site ;D
Urals/Dneprs- The Ultimate Rally Vehicle ;D I want another one now!!
