Here's some pics of my Honda 'build', basically me taking a semi-classic 80s bike and cutting bits off it...
After passing my big bike test I decided to start with something that wouldn't kill me immediately, so stumbled over a Honda CB250rs for £195 that some dude had spent 7 years restoring. It promptly went through an MOT with precisely no work.
Here it is on my way back from Reading to London:
I had decided to chop it about, a decision that was hurried along by me falling off in Brixton by riding like during my test in rush hour traffic.
This is in the back yard, half stripped, no airbox, new universal plastic trials rear guard, no instruments:
I then trimmed the seat down a bit more, took some more of the rear guard and relocated the number plate after it kept hitting the tyre over big bumps.
The added bonus of all this chopping is that I reckon I removed about 10-15kg from a 120kg bike, which combined with 30ish bhp makes for a right laugh, plus the cone filter makes it sound relatively rude.
Rode it like that for a while, then decided the tank looked wrong, so bought a CM125 tank and started fabbing a new seat base, thanks to the rig fabricator at my old work (cheers Toby if you're reading this!)
This is the "finished" article:
trusty pug in the background!
I'm trying to find some space for a minor rebuild, using the black tank, and a minimal cafe style seat with some clip-ons (or original bars upside down) Although I'll be able to swap between the two looks hopefully.
If anyone knows anyone in Brighton who can help butcher my exhaust (weld, bend pipe etc) please let me know!!
cheers,
Tony
