Well ive already proved that me and the dt cannot be stopped by the snow, so thought it would be a good idea to give it some attention while im off. I have 3 weeks to work on it. 1) Strip it back to frame, engine, forks, loom. 2) Re paint the swing arm, touch up a few bits on the frame, forks maybe, top clamps, handle bars, wheel hubs and spokes. 3) Re paint the exhaust with BLACK HTP, not halfords black, then comes out as grey. 4) If I find the right purple, ill do the rear muddy and headlight shroud. 5) Clean up barrel and give it a wee spray of HTP. Same with flywheel cover ect. 6) Clean everything thats possible to clean. New parts: (might not happen because of the wether and crimbo) Float gasket Air filter Rear brake shoes Throttle cable Rear brake light Possible number plate Gearbox oil Chain slider if I can find one The money I save on fuel should pay for most of it. And santa Not a full on resto, just enough to make it look good again for summer. Then after that, its in bits again Yesturdays work. Tidyed up work area. Before. After Comes to bits very easily. Once I get out to get paint and a few consumables, it should be back together very quickly ;D

good plan, but your missing one vital part: a space heater! ps i have great success with bbq paint, but it is very matte and probably a bit grey for you.

Ye tell me about it. I think I cought a cold last night while working on it. Shivering in a realy hot bath afterwards, shivering in bed, then I was almost sick twice, had fook all sleep and had a headache this morning. All better now for some reason.
Forgot about bbq paint. I would prefer the exhaust to be matt. Anything aslong as its black!!

You're a brave lad, I keep going into my garage to start work on the Zeph, then think 'fook it - it's to cold', and go back in the house again! ;D Nice to see your getting involved with the oily bits as well

SAFETY FIRST!Thanks to the use of a cup of thinners, managed to get most of the oil deposit pish off the front of my engine. This was caused my a leaking exhaust, more on that later. Cleaned up the oil tank. Came up nice. Onto the exhaust issue. With these performance front pipes, the expansion chamber is smaller, there for they didnt put on a bracket to mount to the frame. This is a silly idea because after about a week, it rattles itself more and more, creaiting a leak at the engine end. Simple bracket I made at collage, then fettled with at home to make it fit. Fits fine and makes the exhaust stiff as something thats stiff. Might make another one out of thicker metal when I go back if this one isnt that good. Im sure it will tho, it isnt under alot of stress. Ill paint it soon. Also tidyed up the wiring so it isnt dangling about the engine, nicely zip tied to the frame. No pics as it still looks shocking as someone has been there before and the black tape is off in places, did my best, it will do.

The "spooge" wasnt dribbling out, it must have been in gas form, same as what comes out of the end pipe. This was because of the exhaust gasket wasnt making a seal, because the exhaust was shaking about.
Bit of a whim buy today in autosave, 7.99 tin of HTP, quite cheap. Quickly sprayed some before and it came out abit darker, but that wasnt with any prep or heat, so should be better than before.

Ah an actual exhaust leak, always hard to get a perfect seal, but their should be no smoke. it'll be quicker once thats sorted

Its also scarily quiet with a good seal. Im just putting all my faith in the bracket !
