Here we go down another rabbit hole full of chaos, mistakes, blood sweat and tears and no doubt a lot of time and money.
Got the bike few weeks ago which had been in long term storage. I had never liked the look of Hayabusa's until this one showed up. I was sort of wanting a H2 but again wasnt too keen on the looks. Ive a ZX12 that needs some work and was thinking of rebuild the engine, forged internals, then turbo-ing it. I knew it was going to cost about £4,000 in parts to do it properly.
Then i saw this and liked it even though at first it was up for £18,000.
Long story short the priced dropped a phone call to the owner, an offer, counter offer, deposit, Payment and motorbike courier and it was here. Hadn't seen it in the real just took the gamble.
Of course it didnt start. But i had already got the service kit for it and a jerrycan of fresh fuel. Now for those haven't worked on bikes or Hayabusa let me tell you that changing the plugs isn't that easy. Changing the oil filter is even harder especially when someone put a turbo in the way.
But tht done and fresh fuel it ran. Very rich.
While is was waiting to get it MOt'ed i though id change the Seats
The bike passed so it was now time to learn to ride it. Soon found that when the Turbo started to spool it went from AFR 11 to 17 not good. This bike has Loads of ecus and one as far as i could tell was for the Boost. I found this ecu's earth wasnt attached but once it was it didnt do any difference. Undoing a few screws of the Holeshot ecu i saw that an LED was lighting up which must be a good sign. The traced the wires to the MAP sensor. With a bit of luck and testing i guessed that the sensor wasnt working. So ordered another one.
First ride out with the new sensor fitted and it leaned off then went rich and it took off, all working and it addictively quick.
Other little mods were fitting an original stand as the after market one look good but the bike leaned over too much. Waiting for a grab rail as the one i ordered didn't fit. Oxford hot grips fitted and mirror extensions to make ridding it that little bit better.
Ive tried adjusting the Power commander to get decent mixture but its a bit hit and miss.
So the next stage will be changing the injectors and getting rid of all of the ecu's and fitting just one. The short list is Syvec, Link (Furry or xtreme) maybe even a ME442.
