A mate of mine has just got a 50 (twist and go), and when he first got it it ran great, but the airbox fell off Obviously, the speed went down to about 12mph because the mixture was so off. Today i found a filter in my garage and put it on, and it was an improvement, and when we started adjusting the mixture screw it really improved. The pbrolem is, even with the screw in all the way, it hasnt got enough top end and it only gets worse when i unscrew it. I moved the needle up 2 notches, and now it will be bad top end, but if he lets the throttle off abit it picks up. I think i went down too much, maybe i should put it up 1 notch? Any suggestions for the rest? Cheers

Thats what i'm going to do tommorow, ive just done some research and apparently the main jet controls the top end, so it might be blocked

More than likely abit of sh*t got in when air filter wasnt there, take the carb apart , remove the jet , blow down all the "tunnels" and put it back together the same way you took it apart , and when this has been done , try to reset the screw to the postion it was.
Hope i kind of helped lol.

Main jet needs to be bigger. , but if he lets the throttle off abit it picks up. This is the bit that tells me. put the needle back where it's supposed to be and install a bigger main jet. don't let him ride around flat out as it is now it's lean and the engine is a seizure waiting to happen. what air filter did you put on? what size jet is in the carb now?

The carb is just a cheap k and n style thing, but yeah, thats the problem. Its probably too free flowing for the jet. Problem is, its all i have, and he doesnt have the origional airbox :/

Well if there's no money around, try wrapping half the k&n with duck tape or electrical tape, play with how much tape you use to get the amount of air going into the engine right.

He just came to mine, and showed me that someone decided that they wanted his k&n filter Its not the fact that hes got no money, but he has to use it every day so we need a quick fix while some jets arrive.

If he's got the money he can go to a bike breakers and pick up a filter box, not much else he can do.

Yeah, i think we'll just wait for the jets and sort it then I think 10% bigger jet is what your supposed to do
