Seeing as my current bike "Puch Maxi" is a bit too slow for where I live, I decided to search for a more powerful bike but still with character, I found some parts for sale, so I set off on a 3 hour drive to fetch the parts, got everything home and loosely built the bike...
Here's some pictures...
In need of a complete new wiring loom ideally, I've been given some contacts as to where to get one so it's all good.
I've built the engine back, managed to find a good piston from all the parts I was given (see photos below) put it on, new small end bearing, nice compression, so all is good. Kick start misses slightly, but I'll see what it's like when it's on the road.
Ordered a new wiring loom, and rev counter drive shaft, bush and o-ring.
Spent the most of today putting little bits and bobs on, I tidied the rear mudguard and fitted the numberplate (legalities of a pressed plate?) and the rear indicators, clutch and brake levers, choke lever.
I noticed that the 250 my dads working on has a tapped hole on the handlebars and I was confused why mine didn't have one, on fitting the clutch lever I looked underneath and found the hole.....handlebars were on the wrong side! so I flipped them and fitted the choke lever.
also saw that I had no stems for the front indicators, quick google search, £8.50 each!!!!! ordered two of them and a new air filter...
Received the tachometer drive, bush and o ring, just waiting for the air filter, front indicator stems and (more importantly) wiring harness!
What do you guys think?
Regards, Kelvin
