Hello Retro bikers,
This is not as retro as some, but its on the verge of being so, so i thought i'd post it up. ;D
I bought this on ebay, on slight impulse for £100. Because i fancy some freedom .
Here's the ebay picture, looked rather nice compared to the fat modern ones.
This is what it looked like when we unloaded it from the car after the 150 mile round trip.
I first set about fixing what was wrong with it. It had been sat for three years so it didnt start when we got it. A very good clean of the plug and a jump start saw the thing going, very satisfying indeed.
Next thing i did was give it a good clean, polish, and i also painted the exhaust to smarten things up.
This is what it looked like after a good polish.
I then ordered myself a helmet, and a new battery (it didnt come with one)
Next job was to sort the stuck front brake, cable had seizied so we used a "duck tape funnel" to soak it with oil, but it still wasnt good enough so a new cable and 2 brake levers later (the first one sheared before we even put it on properly) the front brake is sorted.
New plate was then fitted
A top box was also fitted, as it was free (came with the scooter)
Final small jobs where to fit a tax disk holder,
New front tyre (old one had cracked sidewalls)
I also made myself a seat lock (original was missing)
Thats it so far, at the moment alls ground to a halt, the new seat cover is being fitted, but once thats done it can go for an MOT.
Hope you like
Jono.
