Hi so I've just got myself an 81 Honda cb 125 t2 twin which and with k&n air filters and a pair of exhausts of a chopper copy bike. Any way it has really trouble ticking over and running below 7,500 - 8000rpm over that it's quick and fine but under its bogged down no power and it crackles and pops constantly. I'm thinking it's the after market air filters some how allowing too much air in and. Hocking the engine. Any thoughts and or help please ?
Thanks
Matt

Put the standard airbox with filter back on, probably drawing too much air.

Agree with Dungbug. If it was fuel starvation, the symptoms would be the other way round. Revert to as near standard settings as you can then work from there. Carb to engine rubbers if fitted (and if still on the original ones) may be perished too so check if they have gone hard or cracked. When running, spray some easystart slowly around all the joins between the carbs, engine and air filters. If the revs rise quickly, then you have air leaking in. If the carb settings have been altered by someone mechanically inept, find out the correct settings for the needles and sizes of the jets and compare what you have got fitted. Carbs aren't as scary to work on as you'd think. Just be methodical, work on a very clean bench, take notes and/or pics as you go along remembering to write down what sizes/settings you started with and note any changes you make. Fresh plugs will give you a good indication of what state your fuelling is in. Run it up to temp, give it a good handfull of revs for a few seconds, then cut the ignition. Remove plugs and check the colour. Hope you get sorted. Ian

think a plug chop would have to be done under load?
is this cb a single carb version or a twin carb?

So I sorted it out , turns out the old owner fitted new points but fitted them wrong so I just adjusted them and hay presto works perfect even with the k&n air filters. Haha made me laugh when we worked it out.
Thanks for you advice and help
