well this guy has really done me over, took the cash and gone, isnt going to put right his work so im now back at square one with the front end. i started making the yoke system today, a friend has taken some bar to do some lathe work, as i dont have a lathe. a friend has offered to make the legs to the correct length, it will all be extra cost but what goes around comes around, the biking community is a small one. i hope he gets his come-uppance! i overhauled my carb this week, gave it some colour and a clean up. its an su hs6 from a morris 1800

its a long story, i wont go into it, but basically i took parts to start the job at the end of january was very specific about measurements, sent clear drawings and diagrams was told 7-10 days he had my bike there in front of him for well over a month, 7 month later i get delivered legs the wrong size, yokes not at all to my drawings the offset was wrong the rake was altered and the trail was about 2-3 inch into the negative. tells me he will sort it, hear nothing its been going on ages, had enough, hes took the cash for the job i cant see it being fixed, he just ignores me now. ive sorted out his mess myself, i was able to use the legs he made, which are the only part of what he did that i could salvage, ive had to alter the stem and design the yokes around the legs, they should have been 730mm but he made them 670mm a little careful measuring and ive got them to a point that they can be used, ive got 2.25 inch of trail so that should be fine, im having my bottom yoke made again however as the one i made, i dont have access to large tools to make from a solid piece, rather i constructed it in parts and welded together, im not comfortable with it knowing there is a weld, its the front end... if it gives way...! it is strong ive bounced the suspension hard and it hasnt moved, but i'd feel a lot better knowing it was macined from a solid piece without joints. this is how the bike sits now, its great to see it back up on wheels.

bike is now having exhaust and manifold made - i also ended up buying an aircraft magneto, so the ignition system will be torn out and i will be running a belt drive magneto ignition, im still in the learning stages of how on this.... i know i need a pulley system with a 2:1 ratio driven off the end of the crankshaft and then the magneto needs to be timed to spark in synch of the motors stroke, sounds simple right
