Just messaged my mate & asked where he brought the parts for his GPZ, I know he rebuilt the forks on his.........I'll post up his reply asap. I've used these guys for parts & found them to be pretty sound, quick delivery & descent prices; www.wemoto.com/bikes/kawasaki/gpz_600_r_a1-a5/85-89/Ended up find a kawasaki dealer near Norwich who agreed that as they were all small parts he'd mail em to me - result Looking very unlikely I'm going to be ready for the BMF but I've not given up yet. Got the centre section of the can back without holes ;D The viper end piece that I need to use doesn't say "competition use only" any more Just need to cut the internals to size and then pack the can with absorbtion material and I can get it all welded up early next week

Right exhaust now assembled and MIG tacked together - sounds great - nice mellow tone and not too loud - pretty sure I'll have no issues with the noise level (I am expecting a howl at the upper end of the rev range) I'll get someone at work to tig it up for me tommorrow Fold in bungy cord clips removed from both sides - they were rusty and kept hanging down so better removed - if I can't fit stuff in a rucksack or tank bag I'll take the car Indicators now removed - got another set on order but they aren't so have to look at fitting them when I have them Nearside Passenger pillion footpeg mount shaved to get rid of redundant exhaust hanger - not a big thing but a detail that was irritating me Offside Passenger pillion footpeg mount shaved to get rid of the unused helmet lock - as above not really a big problem but it looked naff Rear mudguard had already been cut down prior to my ownership but still too big and it's been shaved again Fuel guage wasn't working - so tank removed and drained - fuel level sensor removed and connected again to see what was going on - tabs were bent so when the tank was full it read empty Once they were straightened it read 3/4 full at max so clocks came apart and the needle has been repositioned to correct the remainder of the error While the clocks were apart it was a good time to change all the illumination bulbs I'm tempted to do the same thing with the temperature guage as it reads lower than I'd expect when fully up to temperature and I do like to see a guage in the middle It means a glance is all that's required to see all is well

great work, (i'm getting nothing done to any of my fleet ) all the little things modded make it more yours. most bike temp gauges work like that, it's a detail that'll you'll get used to quickly. On your advice I left it be....... Flush fitting indicators fitted tonight - needed a bit of a re-wire Fronts cover holes from originals Rears are under the tail trim - not a perfect location but looks OK Normally I remove indicators and mirrors (one was broken the other 2well worn and scuffed) as soon as I get a bike but with fairing mounted stuff it leaves nasty holes so needed to find another solution - new mirrors - wonder if they'll provide a similar view of my elbows like the current ones...... Finished cutting down the rear mudguard (tidying up a poor job done at some stage in the past (if you are gonna cut something down at least make sure both sides match!!) Tail trim and passenger seat back in Exhaust not ready guys are busy and home jobs do take a back seat but I'll not panic about that Broke my rivett gun so belly pan not finished Having a bit of a mare with clutch cable and throttle cable routing - they were obviously wrong but I've tried loads of permutations and I don't like any and called it quits for the night Still waiting on parts for the brakes and anti dive but did get the fork oil today Ordered 2 new mirrors hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow lots of work to do yet MOT booked for Sat midday!!!!

Tonights progress was slower than a slow thing I bought a new rivet gun Belly Pan now has alu heat shirlding on the inside - looks way better than I'd thought it would One of the fairing hot air exhaust ducts had broken away from the main part so 3 pop rivets and that's not moving anymore Did the other side to match Choke lever had a self return facility so investigated that - the handlebar is actually worn a groove where it sits so I moved it a few mm New mirrors arrived and fitted Just waiting on the anti dive seals and stuff - kicking myself a bit cos there are a few other bits I could have ordered at the same time Sunday is looking very iffy for its first run out but we'll see how we are sat. ducts

Sheesh talk about highs and lows........ Things were looking good - I insured it Wednesday night policy to start Sat Morning Been regretting that since Thurday night went into the garage and somehow I managed to short the electrickery and no lights and no power untill I work out what the heck I've done Guys at work are busy and I didn't want to hassle them I kinda take the piddle with my track car bits sometimes and it's not like I can do them favours in return....... Seastar Superbikes are where I ordered the parts I needed www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/Ordered and should have got delivery Thursday but not all the parts arrived. Turns out what was supposed to be avaliable wasn't - all the O rings in the anti dive system were no longer serviced despite what the computer says - so I got a call Thursday to say they would refund what they couldn't get but send on what they had next day delivery and they hoped I could find some matching O rings from somewhere else....... Friday I got a call on my voice mail to say courier didn't collect so earliest parts would be with me Monday Oh well exhaust wasn't ready so I'll give up on the plan and ring the MOT station to cancel Then before I'd made the call one of the guys at work dropped the exhaust back to me saying sorry it's done and gas tight but they didn't have time to polish the welds so it looks as Motad intended (Like I give a rats right now) Then Seastar Parts guy rang me and said he was peeved they'd let me down (they knew I was on a mission and running to a target of the BMF) - how about we meet up Friday evening and he'd hand deliver the parts - it was a 30 mile detour for him Crickey - you ever had a motorcylce dealer do that - I never have before and I'm now a real big fan of that dealer and if that's how they view customer service I wanna buy a bike from them So I gave a local nut and bolt (Brandon Bolt) place a call to see if they had any O rings and gave them some guide dimensions - looked like they had 2 out of 3 - so I decided I'd re-use the ones I couldn't get and hope they weren't the ones that leaked Early evening Met up with the parts guy from Seastar and thanked him for his efforts - checked the parts and the o rings I couldn't get from Brandon Bolt were in the package ;D So I've got tommorrow morning to hopefully get it back together - run it up for an MOT, maybe it passes and then tax it and I'm done Lots of hopefully, maybes in there Down to me now

you could blank off the anti-dive, rubbish idea, extra compression damping at just the wrong moment.

Loving this thread ;D Sounds like a stroke of luck came your way (needed it too!) Glad you like the thread and I certainly did need some luck Best of luck with the MOT! Well the results are in........ That's great service, sounds like the plans coming together nicely. Good luck with the test. I runs well and seems quite eager..... you could blank off the anti-dive, rubbish idea, extra compression damping at just the wrong moment. You are so right - the only way I can decribe the handling driving to and from the test station (2 miles each way) is like a drunk pig on a scateboard - frankly shocking - I was prepared for front end tuck on a 16 inch wheel but it's been a while!!!! Still should get used to it on the run to Peterborough tomorrow ;D Oh and that means it passed - no advisorys - just one comment are they ridgid forks or have you filled them up with oil to the top Oh and the
