Hi, just recently bought a Chinese 125 cruiser type bike, got it running and decided to check all the lights. Firstly the indicator flasher unit is missing so I've ordered another, secondly, the headlamp and sidelight didn't work, although the dials lit up, the headlight is non original and none of the wires were connected and had different connectors fitted. I also can't seem to find the correct live from the switch etc.. I'm probably being stupid but would be easier with a wiring diagram. Is there anyone in Kent who is ok with wiring etc? Plus my multimeters are BOTH broken and I don't know why, even tried new batteries. Cheers guys

always on system: there will be four wires on the starter button, one set kills the earth to the light the other starts the engine. system with a headlight on/off switch: this system will have the earth kill switch usually on the left cluster.
So which ever system you have, you first find the earth of the bulb (some waste wire and a battery will do) take a guess at which spade on the bulb is the earth and wire that to the negative on the battery, then touch either of the other spades on the positive of the battery, if both of the spades light the bulb, your first guess was right and that is the earth. wire that up to the head light switch.
then take apart the left switch cluster and find the wires from the hi-lo switch. get the colours and follow them to the ends, wire one to each spade of the bulb, swap around if you have the high beam and low beam mixed up.
failing that it could always just be a dud bulb.

The bulb is good, I've tested it and I know which wires on the bulb are hi/low now. But I'm also confused about the ignition switch wiring, the previous owner lost keys and fitted a switch from a household lamp by wrapping the wires around 2 of the wires on the ignition...I just don't know what's what...and also I don't know which wire feeds from the headlight switch to the hi/low...

how many wires are going into the household switch? why can't you find the hi/lo switch wires, are they ripped out?
