Hi guys, right the story goes i bought a VW t25 campervan nearly a year ago for scrap money £180. Got it home (30 second tow round the corner), got it running at a cost of £6 and was very happpy. Put her in for mot and needed minor things like bulbs and wiper blades and brakes cleaning. The day after the alternator went so replaced that, during ownership all ive replaced is water pump, battery and little odds and ends. The camper owed me around £450.
I knew it had rust on the bodywork, but not to the extent it was. The previous owner used bitumen paint over any rust, which only made it worse. It had various holes over the body and the rust around the rear window was so bad the whole side panel needs replacing.
Me and my boy with the camper.
The point im getting to is i put the car for sale or swap on a facebook buy and sell page. I received a messaged from a guy offering his 1968 Triumph 1300 fwd, with a fresh MOT and £400 my way!
With that offer in mind, my heart was set on a new car. It came with a box of brand new parts including 4 wheels bearings, ball joint kits, track rod ends, steering arm things, clutch parts, NOS front indicator units!, a manifold with twin carbs, headgasket set and various other bits.
Also has a receipt for a full stainless system for over £300!
It has been repainted at some point in its life but a dent on the passenger side door has been filled but not painted. All the chrome is very good, as is the interior, just needs a small bit of vinyl stitching back.
So far im very happy with the car but it needs a few issues sorting
1)Front hubs/gearbox seem to drag and run freely. Its not the calipers as I removed them to check.
2)Bad judder when pullling away when engine is hot.
3)Vibration when going around 60mph (quite bad)
4)To start takes around 4 goes on the key. Possibly battery though or starter as it just stops spinning after about 2 seconds..
5)Pulls slightly to the left (worn balljoint i think as i felt play when checking wheel)
All in all, im loving the car, love the way it drives and handles etc and the fact its free road tax and insurance is £85 fully comp and im 25 with 4 points!
