I had a BSA javelin when i was around 13yo... all my mates had raleigh burners, bombers if they was skint (old bike then) but i always liked racing bikes and couldn't afford one of those milk run Peugeot ones... so my aunt traded me a yellow BSA javelin 10 speed for my raleigh spider (think old fashion single speed boys bike in red and black) which i got for my 9th birthday (my mate got a grifter XL 2 days after... sod) and had outgrown, she wanted it to give to my cousin who was a few yrs younger than me... wish i kept that old BSA, was a lovely bike, not as light as the fancy racing bikes but even then had a period charm, think they were 1960s or early 70s... far better put together than most racing bikes available then, all brazed lugged joints in frame.
