bit of copy and paste form this thread so excuse the horrible prose and discontinuity:

I've been restoring (ahem) this bajaj re 2s for about a year now, it's basically a px150 with a lot more metal and an extra wheel. only done 70 miles in it's 13 year life!
more metal more rust!
it's a bit bent from a lack of metal, wasn't to hard to straigten up.
it's tiny!
you can see how much i've had to chop out of the floor, will be getting some fresh steel during the weekthe it's for a test ride!
A few month later:
i dug it out again, the house is getting sold around it so it's gotta be moving under it's own power soon.
Blegh smokers
not easy to get off, but all the cables are the rebuild able type with adjustable ends, easy to shorten if i need.
mocked up
et voilia!
flipped it over, this way it's perfectly straight supported on four solid points.
chopped it about.
here we are now, gotta make the other rail next week then weld all three bit together.
anyone ever tried to fit modern 50cc front end to a vespa? oil forks and a disc brake would be nice
(yep, et2 forks fit a pk, think the bajaj is mostly pk)
A few month later:
Well that was a busy winter, got nothing done, but i'm back on track now and fixin up the bajaj while waiting for parts for my blown up runner 180 to get here. thanks sean for the pic of the et2 forks.
Story so far:
the head was out a bit.
some heaving with a fork sorted that out and the connecting began.
2x cbr6 rear master cylinders, either one will be enough to move the rear brakes or if i use two i could brake each wheel separately and fly around the corners.
some more welding done.
At this point i got it back to my place and it just sat there for most of the winter,i didn't have the time
A few month later:
An this week i have been busy!
temporary comfy seat
Cables argh!
tank bolted in
Finished up one more weld, need another by the head stock and a channel cut out of the frame for the hand crank start thing.
added a little handle to the handbrake, so i don't wrap my knuckles.
Again not much left to do, lets hope i actually get it done this time
A few month later:
more work! sorted the hand start. ugly but strong.
welded up the head stock
then chopped a bit out of the tub the clear the cables
while it was up side down, i tested the hand starter to check it wasn't fouling anything, and the bugger started! no off switch at the mo, so it pretty much sucked all the crap in the bottom of the bowl into everything that could possibly get blocked up.
would only start (when it was back the right way around) with a jet of wd40 sprayed into the carb so it's definitely a fuel problem, will clean the bugger outta that carb on monday and buy proper bolts to stick the body on.
will weld the seat there i think, smaller seat makes it easier to get in and out and operate the handbrake
as it stands
I want to do a foot gear change, this could go very badly wrong since the gerabox is non positive stop, any one heard of some thing silly like this being done before?
(yep)
A few month later (actually a couple of days ago):
some scrap:
turned into something useful:
which led to some driving! and much hilarity when i first got a gear and shot off backwards coz i couldn't figure out which way the lever was supposed to be! A video is officially needed
lots of thing still to do, mostly the gearchange is terrible, the ratio isn't right so the throw is very long. and no proper brakes.
So any way, this thing is awesome fun, you have no idea how much fun a reverse gear can be (in something other than a car obviously) But what the hell will i do with it? any suggestion at all people?
