i i don't want a full scale argument on here im not experienced lol Davy...... Forum moderation can be a difficult and thankless task at times (I know - I did it for many years), however nowhere in the above posts have I had a personal go at anyone, likewise - no one's had a personal go at me..... The above hardly constitutes an argument - but more 'healthy debate' it's exactly the type of thing that makes these forums interesting (and even educational), lets be honest it would be pretty boring if everyone just agreed with every post. If the OP (original poster) has had his preconceived Idea's confirmed or changed by whats been posted above then the thread (and as such the debate) has been worthwhile. Also, it just proves I was right all along!!.... ;D ;D ;D

Indeed, nothing that was said upset me personally (although I'm near-impossible to offend anyway) - in fact, the more input from more experienced members the better, even negative criticism or pointers to where I might be going wrong.
To go back to the topic of 'debate', I hadn't really stopped to think about my plans in detail, but the points made were very valid. Like I said before, my being skint will probably mean I end up following the true 'cafe racer' ethos, albeit by complete accident ;D

glad we haven't put you off your project raoulduke. davy i think the only thing that might have needed moderation here is that we got a bit off topic.

Could have been worse............ RD might have been wanting to make it into an off roader, a bit like this gorgeous example Wow what a stunning example, that tank justs fits a peach ...but whats going on with the headstock? ? has he cut one off and just welded another on, or is it that he's cut frame rails and lowered them....

Squint and imagine only one cylinder Now that is truly nice - maybe I should start learning how to mould fibreglass! Are there any other (slightly larger) Suzuki engines that would likely fit straight in? I know that some 125 frames will take anything less than 200, but I'm not sure about the GP.

blue one just looks like its plonked there, probably thinking of fitting it? @jawa, two stroke are very easy to engineer into bigger and better things but it's a lot of internet research, try along the lines of a pe175 topend?

If its a trial run to see what you can do with a small bike like that I'd just go with the 125 engine, has great resale value to a learner (retro stylie) make a good profit and buy the next larger sized project. My two bobs worth
