Good call re: Breaking Point ;D
They've helped me out so many times over the years. Young Liam there is amazing with his knowledge of pit bike motors and scooters. He may have some parts stashed away that could be useful to you.

aye ive dealt with breaking point throughout my biking years, am hoping he might have a big valve head stashed away and a stage 1 cam, don't need anything hotter than that, after all its for road use, to be honest my area of experience in bikes is pretty much all 2 stroke bikes. so messing with this will be somewhat of a learning curve regarding tuning, as only ever tuned 2 stroke engines. had a couple of standard cub 90s over the yrs... would still love to get hands on a honda chally 70 or a dax 70. ill need to see what pit bike engine gubbings he has around. ive decided im gonna rebuild this motor, or at least a top end rebuild.

well contacted a local guy with some pit bike parts for sale, buying 2 engines off him, a manual clutch and a semi auto, both same makes so one will be used as spare source for the other, they are non electric start, so sorts out the problem with the leccy start conversion of cub wiring... thank christ.
This got me thinking, i have the complete front and rear end, wiring loom, cdi, coils etc off the chinese cub copy, if i pick up a crf70 type pit bike frame i can use it as a basis along with the scooter parts as basis of a cafe racer/flatrack type special.if i collect a suitable 70's/80's tank off say a 125, some flat bars, throttle, grips etc from breakers, and some cheap led indicators, and a chrome old style round headlamp and fabricate suitable mounts that it will make a diffrent wee project bike, something to work on over summer. need to get my cub A1 before, but no harm in gathering parts, and exploring ideas.

well i went and bought that pit bike stuff, a motley collection of 2 CRF50 style frames A type swingarms, 5 or 6 engines in a state of running and disassembly 3 of which are same make, other 2 are a unknown quantity, pedals, wheels (all seem to be 10" inch) forks, etc, im reckoning i can get 3 engines running out of this lot including the leccy start one i have already, there all 110cc and a few spares parts left over as well. i think ill build the 2 pit bikes up as runners, and keep one engine as a spare for my cub, all i need now is to get my hands on the correct clutch/mag removal tool and a puller. so i can strip these down and warm them up for a rebuild with a improved cam etc..... once i work out what makes they are exactly, to me they look like lifans going by cover shape.

well may be able to trade oh he had a expansion chamber off a tzr80? think that what he said it was from, dunno if anyone on here could use that it came in the collection of parts along with some other odds and sods, cafe racer/flatrack single seat hump. here derek have u got the clutch/mag puller and removal tools for these engines? if so maybe we can barter lol, surely out of this collection we could build a few working units, theres a shedload literally of parts, shame he dont have the CRF70 type frame or a KLX style, cos i think id be to big to plonk me arse on these little CRF50 sized frames... do ya know anyone willing to sell a bigger frame at a sensible price (there only 70 quid new, 100 with swingarm)

My mate made a flywheel puller a few years ago when I needed to remove mine, think he still has it somewere. There are loads of specialist tools on ebay ect for that sort of thing.
Frames do come up second hand sometimes, you must be looking at the new ones for 70? Ive seen a job lot of 5 go for 60 quid once.

yeah problem is most the second handers are the crf50 size... so they only take the 10-12 inch wheels, and cos im a 6ft 2 lump ot 16 stone, those little bikes would kill my back, my knees be up around my ears, and only the girlfriend is used to that position lol! so i need the larger crf70 or KLX sized frames as these are about half as big again as the crf50 and can take a 17" front and 14" rear wheel, with longer forks and stronger rear shock for my bulk. aye i have seen the tools on ebay i will have to pick myself up some. would like to put one of these things on the road, get it plated and add lights etc so could use it as a beach bike in summer.

Biggest wheels you can get on a pit bike are 14" front and 12" rear, thats my set up on mine.
Quite alot of work involved to put one on the road. One of my ideas was to get one that is already on the road, then re-frame it with all your nice bits because most of them are those horrible looking high up things with the A frame swing arm, then transfer the numbers onto your engine/frame. Like a monkey bike but bigger ;D

nah welshpitbikes do a larger sized pit these days so do luckyMX both with 17" front and 14" rear there kinda like half way between a pitbike as most people know it and a full size dirt bike. the handy thing is these frames i have acquired already have VIN plates with a frame number on them, and the engine i plan to use is already registered with DVLA cos its out of this chinese big wheel scooter, so im half way there to getting it road legal. i will use the wiring loom off the chinese scooter, as it has alarm/immobiliser, road going CDI, proper ignition switch, lighting set up etc, all i need to to is change switchgear, and lights to pitbike ones, theres loads of E rated lights available on ebay and indicators. and the vosa place is round corner from me, and a SVA cert for a bike is 80 quid so i can either transfer the scooters reg number to this or get a new reg, either way is fine, as long as it gets plated.
