GOOD NEWS!!!! The DVLA have just ammended the V5. I seems common sense is still alive in Swansea. Thank you DVLA! Bloody hell, that's got to be a first! Now go & slap the guy that MOT'd it before & didn't notice.

whoa, first good thing i've heard about the DVLA since forever. I had a similar experince with a Monza - when they introduced computerised MOT's the first tester wrote the Chassis number down wrong - transposed 2 digits - this error carried on for a couple of years before DVLA decided the car chassis number was wrong and the MOT was right and effectively accused me of "ringing" the car and suggested Q plates etc etc.......... I had lots of fun with that one - mainly along the lines of a bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss which was sadly absent in the initial letter exchanges - but they blocked the car from being taxed which was slighly annoying Having every MOT from 1988 to the issue date and the original bill of sale as well as the registration papers from when it was first brought back to the UK from Germany helped quite a bit - A chassis stamp and vin plate rub as well as a few photos - I just buried them in copies of paper work. They actually requested the originals as they weren't prepared to accept photocopies but there was no way they were getting them to lose!!! Took about 2 mths to sort - in the end I lost my rag a little and went to my local DVLA office armed with all the paperwork and they saw sense and allowed me to tax the car

If your MoT tester gets it wrong, see the tester first. He can reinspect and re-issue a MoT.

UPDATE!!! Lack of updates due to a garage move and general cold weather. Triumph Trash. Time to dust off the Triumph, top the gearbox and primary oil up,drain the sump of oil and pump the tyres up. Then off for a gentle 50 mile potter around the countryside.... stopped at Lacock for a rest.

Triumph Trash, No work, just riding.... is great! Bikesafe Castle Coombe... sunny day. Any excuse to ride 40 miles though the back lanes... need I say more! Was an excellent day. Well worth going to even if you don't take part the talks are very informative and the event very laid back. Came back to find this.... The old boy telling the young'uns how its done!!!! Matchless Trash With the warm weather this moves on a pace. Have a slight delay on the horizon, the laquer I planned to use reacts with the paint below it!!! Ar5e. Not sure what to do??? Used to work fine, I'm using hammerite black spray paint does anyone know a good laquer for this?? I'll post piccies soon.

I am not sure that you can laquer over Hammerite, you are right it has changed over the years and not for the better. Rustolium seems have taken over from Hammerite as the low buget re-paint, you can brush, roller or spray it and it pollishes up reasonably.

Spoke to a friend. He suggested that the issue is temperature related. So waited for a warm day and re-tried... bingo! No cracks.
Hammerite still isnt bad, just dosent have the coverage any more.

when i was hammerite'ing my cbr's frame, i put my swingarm in an old starlet with the windows closed, came out fantastic, pity the frame wouldn't fit. swingarm looked even better with lacquer, frame got worse.

Matchless Trash.... Just to prove I'm not a total idle bum.... Here are a couple of pics of the latest finished parts... The rest are all stays and brackets.... not that interesting I feel.... Soon I'll be able to get the frame done....
