I appear to have bought another GPz
1986 on a C with 44,600 miles
Anyway lets start the thread with a few pictures (they say the camera doesn't lie but I know that's not true - it looks better in pictures than it does in real life but it's not bad considering it's age)
Red wheels - they have got to go
The exhaust is interesting
Very quiet - too quiet and the rear silencer is a bit large
Looks like aftermarket black chrome downpipes (so probably a system that was available at one time - linked to something that fitted)
As I said - If you can read it you can see a certain H word
Riders eye view (adds to shopping list - taller or flip up screen)
Doesn't look too bad as long as you aren't real close
What's Bad (needs doing)
1. Centre stand is a killer to get the bike of it - seems to be going over centre so requires some considerable effort to roll it off
2. Stand stand isn't much better as somehow it's bent and the bike really leans over on it
3. Paintwork needs a good going over
4. Few cracks in the plastics around the bodywork
5. Red wheels need going black
6. Pirelli Stickers have got to go although I bet they hide something grotty
7. Missing a few fairing fastners at various places
8. Rear sprocket isn't great so assume need Front one and a chain at some stage soon
9. Front seat is usable but has a bit of wear on the sharp edges of the base
10. Flops into corners OK
11. Did I mention the Red wheels?
12. Engine casings could do with some paint
What's Good
1. Rear tyre has plenty of meat and is in a good shape
2. Engine runs quiet - no nasty noises rattles of knocking even when you wind the tickover down to stall point
3. Pulls well after 4000 rpm - seems a little flat below
4. Clutch holds
5. Brakes are good up front - rear is a little too good!!
6. Tank doesn't leak
7. Has a handy little rack on the back
8. Gears all do what they should - neutral is a bit tricky to find tho
Overall it's in fairly good condition considering age
Plans are check it over properly sort the main issues out and then use it for the summer and see how well we get on together - Next winter could be a proper overhaul/refurb if we get on well
